‡ (Sturnidae; Ϯ Réunion Starling F. varius) Portmanteau of genera Fregilus Cuvier 1817, chough, and Upupa Linnaeus, 1758, hoopoe (cf. French name Huppe hoopoe, given to the Réunion Starling by early settlers, from its crest and stout, curved bill); "LXXXVII.e Genre. CRAVUPPE; Fregilupus. Bec un peu plus court de la tête, haut, très-comprimé sur les côtés, à mandibule supérieure plus longue que l'inférieure, à arête légèrement recourbée, à narines en partie couvertes par les plumes du front, ouvertes, arrondies sur les côtés ... Observ. M. Temminck classe cet oiseau parmi les martins. Il a tous les caractères des huppes et des craves. CRAVUPPE DU CAP; Fregilupus capensis.
