Formerly known as the Thrush-like Schiffornis or Thrush-like Manakin, the Brown-winged Schiffornis or Mourner is not particularly thrush-like, and has been variously allied to the manakins Pipridae, to the cotingas Cotingidae, or, more recently, to the tityras Tityridae.
