(Cisticolidae; † Oriole Warbler H. atriceps) Gr. ὑπεργηρως hupergērōs ancient, extremely old < ὑπερ huper exceeding; γηρας gēras, γηρως gērōs old age; alluding to the silver-haired appearance of the Oriole Warbler. Reichenbach's 1850, plate LIV, labelled Turdinae: Pycnonotinae, illustrates the scaly head of this large warbler; "Hypergerus Reichenbach, 1850, Avium Systema Naturale, pl. LIV (no specific names given). Type, by subsequent designation (G. Gray, 1855, Cat. Genera Subgenera Birds Brit. Mus., p. 44), Moho atriceps Lesson, 1831." (JAJ 2021).
