T. thalassina Nob. — Hirundo thalassina Sws. Syn. Mex. Birds in Taylor. Phil. Mag. 1827. pag. 366. — Chelidon thalassina Boie Isis 1844. pag. 171. ... *) Von ταχυκινητος, sich schnell bewegend. Die sehr langen Flügel, welche den ziemlich kurzen, etwas ausgerandeten Schwanz merklich überragen, die eigenthümlich weiche Beschaffenheit des kleinen Gefieders, sowie die abweichend grüne Färbung lassen mit einigen andern, weinger in's Auge fallenden Eigenthümlichkeiten für H. thalassina auf eine auch in der Lebensart abweichende generische Verschiedenheit schliessen. Als 2te, jedoch vom Typus mehrfach abweichende Art dürfte T. bicolor (Hirundo bicolor Vieill.) hierher zu stellen sein." (Cabanis 1853).
