(Thamnophilidae; Ϯ Russet Antshrike T. anabatinus) Gr. θαμνος thamnos bush, shrub (cf. θαμνιτις thamnitis shrubby); ἱζω hizō to sit; "5. THAMNISTES ANABATINUS. Thamnistes genus novum ex familia Formicariidarum, Thamnophilo generi affinis: characteres generales Thamnophili habet, sed rostro crassiore, basi latiore, et ptilosi anabatino differt. Typus. T. anabatinus." (P. Sclater & Salvin 1860).
