DEFINITIONS

CHRYSOMMA
(Sylviidae; Ϯ Yellow-eyed Babbler C. sinense hypoleucum) Gr. χρυσος khrusos  gold; ομμα omma, ομματος ommatos  eye; "Timalia Horsfieldi, Jardine and Selby, is identical with T. hypoleuca, Franklin, which latter appellation holds precedence.  I understand that both this and T. hyperythra, Franklin, have recently been figured by M. Guérin in his Magasin de Zoologie.  The former constitutes Mr. Hodgson's genus Chrysomma." (Blyth 1843); "Chrysomma Blyth, 1843, Journ. Asiat. Soc. Bengal, 12, p. 181.  Type, by original designation, Timalia hypoleuca Franklin." (Deignan in Peters, 1964, X, p. 327).
