COMPSOTHRAUPIS
(Thraupidae; Scarlet-throated Tanager C. loricata) Gr. κομψος kompsos  elegant, pretty; τραυπις thraupis  unknown small bird, perhaps some sort of finch.  In ornithology thraupis signifies tanager; "Lamprotes Swainson, 1837, a genus of Tangaridæ, is invalidated by Lamprotes "R. (Richmond 1915); "Compsothraupis Richmond, 1915, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 28, p. 180.  New name for Lamprotes Swainson, 1837, preoccupied by Lamprotes Reichenbach, 1817 (Lepidoptera)."
