(Ardeidae; Ϯ Rufescent Tiger Heron T. lineatum) Gr. τιγρις tigris, τιγριδος tigridos  tiger; σωμα sōma, σωματος sōmatos  body; "TIGRISOMA.   Rostrum validum; tomio serrato. Alæ rotundatæ, remigibus 2da et 6ta æqualibus, 3tia, 4ta, et 5ta fere æqualibus, longissimis. Pedes mediocres; tarsis squamis reticulatis, unguibus brevibus, curvatis.  ...  Type. Ardea tigrina. Lath.  ...  In the species before me, the sides of the head are not only much more denuded than in Ardea, but the chin is quite naked, a character which would seem to indicate an affinity with Ciconia."
