(Sturnidae; Ϯ Stripe-headed Rhabdornis R. mystacalis) Gr. ῥαβδος rhabdos stripe (cf. ῥαβδος rhabdos twig); ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos bird; "CLII. Rhabdornis RCHB. Nat. Syst. t. suppl. — Voriger Gattung wohl nahe stehend, aber bei so eigenthümlichem Kleide und auffallender Streckung des Schnabels jedenfalls der Typus einer neuen, für deren Umschreibung wir noch weitere Angaben erwartern. — "Zunge flach, hornartig, an der Spitze gespalten und faserig, nur wenig protraktil": v. KITTLITZ. — Die Entfernung dieses neuen Typus reinigt den von Climacteris und bestimmt zugleich dessen geographische Verbreitung genauer. 640. Rh. mystacalis (Meliphaga — TEMM. col. 335. 2.) RCHB. t.
