(Glareolidae; Ϯ Australian Pratincole S. isabella) Mid. English stilte, stilts; "1844. STILTIA, Pr. B. 1854. (Glareola isabella, Vieill.)" (G. Gray 1855); "45. Stiltia, Bp. 113. grallaria, Temm. (isabella, Vieill. australis, Leach.)" (Bonaparte 1856). The Australian Pratincole forms a link between the coursers and the pratincoles, having the long legs of the former but the general appearance of the latter.
