(Trochilidae; Ϯ White-tipped Sicklebill E. aquila) Gr. ευ eu  fine, good; τοχηρης toxērēs  archer, furnished with the bow  < τοξον toxon  bow (cf. ευτοξια eutoxia  skill in archery). Reichenbach's 1849, plate XL, labelled Trochilinae. Mellisuginae. Phaëtorninae, shows the head of this hummingbird with its distinctive arched bill; "Eutoxeres Aquila (Tr. — BOURC. 1847.)
