(Acanthizidae; Ϯ White-browed Scrubwren S. frontalis) Gr. σηρικον sērikon  silk  < σηρες Sēres  the people from whom silk was obtained, the Chinese; ορνις ornis, ορνιθος ornithos  bird; "Genus SERICORNIS, Gould.   CHARACTERES GENERICI. Rostrum robustum, rectum, caputque quoad longitudinem fere æquans, ad apicem compressum, et indentatum; nares basales, laterales, ovales, et operculo tectæ; alæ mediocres, rotundatæ; remige primo perbrevi, quarto, quinto, atque sexto longissimis et inter se fere æqualibus; cauda mediocris et æqualis; tarsi elongati; digitus posticus cum ungue validus, digitumque intermedium fere æquans; digitis externis æqualibus; plumæ molles, et sericeæ.  ...   TYPE.
