(Passerellidae; Ϯ Lark Bunting C. melanocorys) Gr. καλαμος kalamos  grass; σπιζα spiza  finch  < σπιζω spizō  to chirp; "2. F. bicolor.  Prairie Finch.   ...   Inhabits the plains of the Platte river, and presents many of the habits, as well as the song of the Bob-o-link." (Townsend 1837); "Genus 136.
