(Megalaimidae; Ϯ Malay Brown Barbet C. hayii) Gr. καλος kalos beautiful, noble, good; ῥαμφος rhamphos bill; "26. Genre nouveau, voisin des Barbus. Caloramphus, Les. —Bec moins long que la tête, robuste, plus large à la base que haut, très-comprimé sur les côtés, convexe en dessus, muni d'un arête dorsale entamant les plumes du front, peu recourbé à la pointe, à bords presque droits et lisses, à branches distantes et robustes; commissure sans soies aucune; l'inférieure non renflée en dessous. Narines frontales, percées en trous arrondis. Ailes courtes, à 1re rémige rudimentaire, 2e brève, les 3e, 4e, 5e, 6e et 7e égales et les plus longues. Tarses faibles, courts; à 2 doits en avant et 2 en arrière. Queue médiocre, échancrée, formée de 12 rectrices. Caloramphus sanguinolentus, Les., espèce inédite.—Rostro rubro; pedibus sanguineis; corpore supra brunneo, griseo infra sanguineo tincto. Alis, caudaque brunneis. ... Hab. Sumatra."
