(Pycnonotidae; Ϯ Spotted Greenbul I. guttatus) Genus Ixos Temminck, 1825, bulbul; Gr. -νωτος -nōtos -backed < νωτον nōton back; "Genus IXONOTUS. Plumæ uropygii rachide robustissimo. Alæ rotundatæ: remigum prima robustissima; secunda longitudine nonæ; tertia sextam æquante; quarta et quinta omnium longissimis. Cauda æqualis. Pedes brevissimi. Rostrum breve, gracile, compressum, subincurvum. IXONOTUS GUTTATUS J. et Ed. Verreaux. Ex Afr. occ. ... les plumes du derrière du cou et du dos assez longues, grisâtres à leur base, et d'un brun olivâtre sur le reste; celles du croupion très-longues, soyeuses et décomposées à leur extrémité, mais offrant les mêmes caractères que chez les Ceblepyris" (J. & E.
