Dr Ángel Gallardo (1867-1934) Argentinian civil engineer, politician, zoologist, and his grandson Prof. Dr José María Alfonso Félix Gallardo (1925-1994) Argentinian zoologist, both former Directors of Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales 'Bernadino Rivadavia' (Björn Bergenholtz and Laurent Raty in litt.).  The epithet gallardoorum appears to be a manuscript name, used to reflect the dual dedication (Podiceps).
