(Columbidae; Ϯ Sombre Pigeon C. poecilorrhoa) Gr. κρυπτος kruptos obscure, hidden; φαψ phaps, φαβος phabos pigeon; "ε. CRYOPTOPHAPS. Cryptophaps, Salvad. MS. . . .Type. C. pœcilorrhoa. Range. Confined to Celebes. The type of this subgenus does not seem to have any near allies; perhaps it approaches Ducula more than any other generic or subgeneric group; the long and nearly graduated tail is very conspicuous, also the under tail-coverts with dark centres."
