DEFINITIONS

PSEUDOSEISURA
(Furnariidae; Ϯ White-throated Cacholote P. gutturalis) Gr. ψευδος pseudos  false; σεισουρα seisoura  bird mentioned by Hesychius and subsequently identified as a wagtail Motacilla.  Heinrich Reichenbach was a proponent of the quaternary or natural system which grouped all birds in interlocking symmetrical circular patterns, and here linked the cacholote with the yellow wagtails; “XCI. Pseudoseisura RCHB. Nat. Syst. d. Vögel t. suppl.   ...   So wie Clitonyx die Gattung Budytes, so schient diese die Gattung Motacilla zu vertreten, daher der Name.    387. P. gutturalis (Anabates — D'ORBG. LAFR. syn. n. 6. Voy. 257. 136. pl. 55. 3.) RCHB. t.
