Bergkauz. Aegolius. (Strix Tengmalmi.) Entw[ickelung]. Die Fußwurzeln und die verkürzten Zehen werden befiedert, Flügel und Schwanz kürzer, der Kopf dicker, und die Ohröffnungen sehr groß. Char[akter]. Käuze mit dick befiederten Fußwurzeln und Zehen, und großen Ohröffnungen. Leb[ensart]. Sie lieben Gebirgswaldung und leben wie die übrigen kleinen Eulen, von Mäusen."
